And She's Here......Just In Time For Thanksgiving!

Our sweet baby girl Katherine Harrington Airhart "Kate" made her arrival on November 24, 2010 at 8:40pm, weighing 7lbs 1 oz and 20 inches long.

We were anxiously awaiting her arrival and after a false alarm two days prior when we were kept at the hospital for 12 hours for false labor contractions 3-6 minutes apart for 4-5 hours....she finally came. On the 24th of November my water broke at 1:30pm after taking a nap. Chris was painting the garage, so we quickly cleaned up and packed our bags to head to the hospital. My mom rushed over to keep Hayes while we went to the hospital until Jessica Glaze could get to him....thank you Jess. She had been on standby for weeks and was a saving grace. My mom and dad headed down to the hospital too and they were inducing me because no contractions had started yet. I was given pitocin and at the first sign of painful contractions was given my epidural. The last time I was checked for dilation, I was only at 4cm and was progressing slowly so they kept upping the pitocin. They then decided to turn me on my side and place my leg in a stirrup to help her move into position. Little did we know....she would make her debut on her very own without a nurse midwife or doctor present. Unannounced to me....while on the phone with my brother I started to get 4-5 painful contractions and told him I had to let him go because it was hurting so bad. I told the nurse I felt a ton of pressure and she said, "pressure is normal, its probably just her position". She said, "If your in pain, then we can get you more epidural". So I said, "Yes please because this definitely hurts". Well the anesthesiologist came in to give me a boost in my epi and low and behold....I feel behind me....and OH MY GOSH....her head was all the way out...under my covers and nobody had a clue. The nurse lifted up the covers and her eyes almost bulged out of her head. Let me please mention that she was in training and she quickly picked up the phone and yelled for whoever...any ob or and midwife...to get in there pronto. So this nurse runs in from the hallway, turns me over on my back, tells me to pull my knees back and push. One and a half pushes later and here she was. They had to rough her up a bit because of the fast delivery. There was no warning for that on. I had progressed 6cm in two hours and the nurse that delivered me...we don't even know who she was or her name and she didn't have a robe on or anything and nothing in the room was ready. CRAZY!!!! We better watch out for number 3 and haul tail to the delivery room.

We are in love with our little girl. Hayes is having a tough time adjusting, so that breaks my heart. He is all about his daddy and not wanting much to do with me and baby, but in time he will come around. He has mostly just been really emotional at times and if anything, his energy level has doubled or tripled. LOL! He is climbing on EVERYTHING. The outside of the stairs, the tables, etc....EVERYTHING! Yesterday we cheered for him because he gave sister a kiss and he really liked that. Now he loves to kiss her and pet her head...so we are making progress.

Thanks everyone for all the support and thank you to our visitors. Also a big thank you to Tyler and Erin for bringing us Thanksgiving Dinner in the hospital so we did not miss out. Here are some pictures...no particular order.

Kate's Baby Shower #3

Another wonderful baby shower for Miss Kate and I was given by my very close family friends Stefanie Warren and Cheryl Warren. Thank you so much for everything. You are so sweet and I could not ask for better friends to have known all these years. The shower was beautiful from the food to the decor...loved the birds...you did such a good job. Just like her nursery theme. I felt so very special. Thank you to everyone that came to help us celebrate. Love you guys. I was having so much fun, I forgot to take pics. Sorry girls!
