This morning Hayes and I went to tour a school near by our house to see about getting him into a program for Mother's Morning out, one day a week, in August from 9am-1pm. . He will be 14 months by then. We liked it. The church is called Creekside. A few people from my neighborhood go there, but I was referred by a good friend in my small group, Jessica. There is another school that we may look at too in Johns Creek, so we can get a comparison. My friend Brooke sends her son to the one in Johns Creek and likes it a lot too. I really like the idea of a preschool program that is God centered. What we observed today is that the children learn a lot about how to learn in groups (circle time) and they have play centers to encourage imaginative fun and individual play. I think that it is very important for Hayes to learn to participate in a group setting, as well as learn to take authority from other adults besides mommy and daddy. It also really helps with the separation anxiety that a lot of children that age suffer with. The school has chapel where the sing songs, have puppet shows and read bible stories . They also have gym class and three playgrounds, separated by age group. The learn stranger-danger, about germs, about letters, numbers, colors, seasons, and best of all....Potty Training. As he would graduate through the system, they really focus on getting the children ready to go on to kindergarten in the public school system. Another really cool feature is that you can watch your child online via cameras....and relatives and friends in other cities and states can log on with our user-name and password and see him too. Isn't that a cool feature? We are really looking forward to Hayes starting in a program where he can make some friends too.
